San José Weather from Wunderground

San José is the capital and largest city in Costa Rica. Home to one third of Costa Rica’s population, San José is the country's centre — economically, culturally, and geographically. But even in San José’s most urban alleyways, it’s hard to forget you’re in a tropical nation. The steamy air and warbling jungle birds remain.

On a plateau in the Central Valley at 1500 metres (4,900 ft) elevation, it is ringed by lush green mountains and valleys. The population of this city is probably half of the whole country. It contains the primary airport, the University of Costa Rica, the US' and other embassies and many museums, cultural venues, hotels, markets, etc. It is the hub of the country.

The Climate in San José can be different at all times depending of the route of the winds and yearly seasons, some times in the latter months of the year it is colder than the months at the middle. For many Costa Ricans the coolest temperatures in San Jose are equal to high (warm) temperatures for North America

When travelers first arrive into Costa Rica's international airport, San José can seem quite disagreeable: noisy, busy, and even smelly! However, the capital city tends to grow on people. Proof: 250,000 foreigners have settled in San José, many of them American expatriates.

The best way to experience Costa Rica’s urban culture in San José is by taking a stroll. Dispersed all throughout the city, San José’s public parks, markets, and courtyards serve as daytime meeting places for the city’s friendly locals (called Joséfinos).

San José’s rainy season is from April to late November. The city remains relatively warm and humid year-round.

The most cool and pleasant time of year is in the December holiday season, which draws hordes of locals and travelers. By most accounts, the festivals and other celebrations are worth the hike in accommodations prices. On even years, San José holds the Festival de Arte, a conflagration of film, music, theatre, and other art forms, in March.

Taxis are readily available throughout the city, and tourist-class vehicles like minibuses can be booked from numerous tour agencies.
